MASTERTON NOTES
It is probable- that Thursday will again, bo declared 1 the. statutory; halfholiday in Masterton. Fifty-four' old-age pensions were, granted in Masterton ' during the period ending December' 31. A sum of £10,000 is said to be available for the provision and equipment, of an hostel,, or club, in Masterton. for returned soldiers.
'I'he aggregate amount sued for in the Masterton Magistrate's Court during thoi.quarter ending December 31 was £1406 19s. 10d., and the aggregate amount recovered was £623 17s. 'Yd.
A large number of soldiers come to Masterton on Saturday afternoon by special troop; train, and indulged in various pastimes. Thcro are at present. 34 patients in the Masterton Hospital, including five in the isolation ward.
