REPLY OF THE GREEKS
INSUFFICIENTLY PRECISE London, January 12. It is announced that the Allies consider the Greek reply insufficiently precise. Tho Greek Government is to be told that the reply gives pleasure so far as it goes, but more definite acquiescence is necessary. Tho Alließ do not intend to raise tho blockade until their full demands are conoeded. The Allies' representatives will remain at Athens. The Paris newspapers, commenting on the Greek reply, express the opinion that a complete rupture is preferable to the present situation.—Reuter. TOO ARGUMENTATIVE London, January 12. The newspapers point out that Greece's reply apparently accepts the Allied ultimatum, but its phraseology is argumentative and vague. Whether it amounts to unconditional acceptance of the Allies' demands cannot be determined until the full text has been examined, but General Sarrail, who has complete control, is not likely to tolerate equivocation for the purpose of gaining time.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A REMINDER (Rco. January 13, 7 p.m.) London, January 13. The Allies.are informing Greece that complete acquiescence is imperative, otherwise General Sarrail will act. — "The Times."
