It is not expected that Biplane will race in the handicap event at Trentham, bnt the horse will be seen under silk in the more important weight-for-age event run over four furlongs, on the concluding day. • • ■ . I The work' of alterations to the- Peilding course is shortly to be taken in hand. Included in the programme of alterations is the enlargement of the totalisater house and tho grandstand. The installation of tho totalisator in New South Wales is causing the various secretaries of the Taring clubs considerable anxiety, and each week's mail brings a budget of letters to Mr. A. E. Whyte, secretary of the Wellington Racing Club, asking for information relative to the machine, the methods and working of it, and the staff required. In Wellington the club employs nearly 150 men, and both the Canterbury Jockey Clnb and the Auckland Racing Club have a bigger roll. If the machine takes on in Sydney it will be necessary to employ twice the number quoted to cope with the business.
