J.: Tho annual show of the Peilding A. and P. Association takes place on February, 6 and and entries for all events close on January!!). Prize lists havo been widely circulated. Amongst the Bumerouß ring events is a driving competition for ladies who have not won a similar competition previous to June 30, 1916. For this Mrs. H. M. Bow ias kindly. presented a trophy valuo : £5 6s.'' There are numerous- handsome trophies to bo competed for in all sections, as well as prize money on the highest grade. Intending exhibitors in ■the horse section will please note that Glass 18 should be for 15-stono hack, not 11-stone, as printed. The annual West Coast Earn Fair will be held at Feilding on the two days following the show. Entries close on January 23. Prize lists for show; and entry.forms and conditions for ram fair will be forwarded on application to the secretary. „ Kuku district settlers anxious that water-race extension work should be gone on with immediately, as the very'dry weather is telling on the pastures and tho stock, and on the exist, ing water-races. The extension work ' has been authorised by tho County ■ Council,' but so far the State Advances Department has not forwarded , the ■ loan moneys of £750 applied for by the council. ■ - Last week a farmer in the Temuka district sold forty head of fat cattle , at ■ £18 a head.
