A middle'-aged man whose identity is at present unknown met bis death at Aramoho railway station late this ; afternoon; under tragic circumstances, i The deceased was a passenger on the ■ AA'ellington train to Now Plymouth, and ■ was seated in a carriage, which was shunted off and attached to the AVanga- ! nui train. As this train commenced to 'leave the deceased evidently realised that ho was in the wrong train, and ' endeavoured to jump off, with tho re- • suit that he fell beneath the wheels of the carriage. . His body was shockingly ■mutilated, the head being almost severed. Deceased was apparently about . 60 years of age, and had in his pocket ! ; a return ticket to Thorndon, issued at Inglewood on January 2. 1 .CHILD KILLED BY A MOTOR-CAR. • ; •■■■ ■ :..: Blenheim, January 10. The five-year-old son.of Mr. J.Maloh'ey waR instantaneously killed at Pictoi'i while attempting to cross in front of a motor-car driven by Kuru Love. ■' While Mr. J. Onepu Road, Lyall Bay, was working i at tho Wellington Cabinet Company s 3 works, Adelaide Road, on Tuesday, - when his right hand was caught in a ■ machine and he lost the middle finger . from tho second joint. He was rej moved to the Hospital and detained - for treatment.
