"HE MAHARATANGA"
"Ho Maharatanga" is the title of a very interesting and neatly-compiled I brochure which has been published by Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Co., of London, and being sold for the benefit of disabled and wounded New Zealand soldiers. The little booklet has been compiled by Miss Betty Rhind—who' left "Welliiißton about ten years ago to reside with her people in London —in memory of the New Zenlanders who fought and died in the Gallipoli campaign of the great war, described by General Sir lan Hamilton as "an epic of heroism." Thb matter included in the book consists of extracts from General Hamilton's dispatches, correspondents' letters, extracts from London papers, and Rupert Brooke's fine poems, "The Dead" and "Safety"—really a paean of praise for the soldiers of New Zealand. The cover is emblazoned with a sword-girt figure of Britannia, holding a trooper's hat in her lands, and gazing reverently at a half-masted New Zealand ensign, well drawn and executed by Miss Rhind, who is evidently artistic to lor finger-tips. Tho picture is appropriately framed in a true representation of Maori carving. Miss Betty Rhind is a daughter of the lato Mr. Rhind, formerly a banker here, and a sister.of Sergt. Vivian Rhind, now with the forces in England.
