THE "FRIENDLY BOWL."
■AN INTER-CITY MATCH. ; The friendly bowl that was played for between the Wellington and Christchurch Bowling Clubs on Saturday afternoon is certainly one. that cheers and does not inebriate. It is a bowl, mounted as becomes a veteran prizewinner, which stands as a symbol of friendship between the two clubs, and is played for each rear by four rinks from each club, either here or in Gliristchuroh. Whichever wins retains tho trophy for the year, but really that does not matter in the least degree, as the "bowl", is simply a clasped hands trophy between two of tho oldest clubs in tho Dominion. On Saturday the match was played on the Wellington Club's green. Mr. W, Berry (president of tho club), iu-pfo'siding at the luncheon given in tho pavilion, gavelthe visitors a hearty welcome. The visitors were toasted, Mr. Gumey replying on thoir behalf.
