DAYLIGHT SAVING ACT
OPERATION IN NEW SOUTH AVALES. (Rec. January 7, 5.5 p.m-) Sydney, January 7. The Daylight Saving Act is woiking satisfactorily as far as general business is concerned, but the theatres and picture shows, which are also saddled with the burden of the amusement tax, complain of reduced .attendances, m some cases as much as 40 per cent. The people show a tendency m the present hot weather at aay rate to spend the extra leisure in surfing, rather than stay in town. _ Tho dairying' industry also' is nob enamoured with the new hours, which mean shortening their already short lishfc to cateli % earlier trains. Ths cows, whoso habits are not regulated by the clock, show an objection to having their rest broken, and aro yielding less milk.—Press Association.
