JOCKEY KILLED
FATALITY AT NORTHERN WAIROA RACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Oargaville, January 7. In the final evont of the Northern J Wairoa races yesterday Gold Lac, rid- J den by John C. Chaafe, aged sixteen, fell. Tlie horse was killed instantly, ■ its neck being broken. The jockoy ; struck tlie gronnd heavily, and when. , ; picked lip he was lying between tho ' horse's hind legs. Ho was quickly attended by a doctori hut died in a few minutes. An inquest was opened last evening, when medical evidence was given that . death was due to concussion' of the ; brain. The inquest was adjourned to enable the jury to inspect the course.
