' James Herbert Jarman, farmer, Kirwce, managing farms aggregating 5130 acres, asked lor timo to put his affairs iu order. One brother had been killed in action, and another was in camp. Exemption for threo months was granted. Tho appeal of Arthur Leonard Loveday, ilourmillcr, Ohoka, who has a sister and two children dependent on hiiii, was adjourned for a month to allow of medical examination.
Harry Picrson, farm labourer, Flaxton, was granted exemption, being a deaf mute. .
John George Cook, .mustorer and shepherd, Oxford, sought four months' exemption to complete, a mustering contract. Ho was granted till March 31. . . '
The appeal of William James Morgan, farm labourer, Parnassus, who previously enlisted and was rejected, was adjourned for a month, appellant to so before the Medical Board. The caso of Gcorgo Booth M'Donald, fanner, Cust, who supported his mother and had financial obligations, was adjourned sino die.
Leonard Sharp, apprentice to a bricklayer, Rangiora, was .granted till the end of February to complete his apprenticeship. Appellant stated that he had enlisted before hut was rejected. The appeal of Hugh' M'Kibbra, farmer, Oniilii, on the ground that' ho is over age, was allowed.
Douglas M'Lachlan, farmer, Oniihi, appealed on the ground of public interest. Appellant is ono of four brothers eligible for service living in different places. One enlisted and was rejected, and two others have been drawn in the ballot. Tho hoard intimated that some member of the family must go, and adjourned tho case for a month in order to ascertain the position of the others. Appellant is to bo medically examined meantime.
John Garland, farmer, Bennett's Junction, appealed because there was no one to look after his farm.. The case was adjourned for a month, appellant to be medically examined, and evidence of the fitness or otherwise of a brother to be ascertained.
, The appeal of Percival Clark, woollen mill hand, Kaiapoi, who has seen nine months' active service, and had heen discharged as unfit, was allowed. William George Lynn, weaver. Kaiapoi,- declared unfit hy the Medical Board, was granted exemption. The appeal of James Tester, iVnncr, West Eyreton, on the grounds of occupation and domestic circumstances was adjourned for three months, appellant to be mcdicnlly examined in the meantime. ■{
The case of Arthur Movie, farm labourer, Rangiora. was dismissed, no hardship heing shown.
David Alexander M'Kie, farm manager. Amuri, appealed on grounds of public interest and undiio hardship. Two other brothers were on the farm. The case was dismissed, apnellafit being allowed until the end of February to father the harvest. •
TV General Manager of Tiailwavs annealed on behalf of Leonard J!. M'Keown; locomotive, fireman, Ranei-' ora. Tlio case was adiov.rned sine die.
The anneal of. Basil. E. Wilkinson, fanner. Domett, who is looking after throe farms, was adjourned pine die. Harry S. Cinders, ti-amstor. West Eyre-ton, was granted exemption till the end of February.
