During 1 tho running of the Railway Handicap at Ellerstio King Lupin tore off a plate. This would account to souio cxtont for his poor showing in that event. In his nost two starts ho scored easily, and quite justified his owner's estimate that ho was better at tho bo- < ginning of tho meeting than at any timo during his career. J. W. Lowe, with Chakwana, Menelaus, and Seadown, roturned from BUerslie yestorday. The luck of racing was exemplified in tho case of Depredation's win m the Auckland Cup. It is stated that lus owner (R.
