Sir Douglas Haig reports: Enemy artillery was very active in tlio neighbourhood of Souchez and the southern half of the Ypres salient.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Router. NOTHING TO REPORT (Rec. January 4, 9.15 p.m.). London, January 4. 'A Paris communique says there is nothing to report except the usual cannonade on different parts of tho front.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.-"Router. BRITISH TRENCH LINE TWO MILLION TROOPS MASSED (Rcc. January 4, 9.15 p.m.) London, January 4. A Router correspondent at Headquarters states that tho British front on the West is now nearly a hundred miles, on which about two million troops are massed.—Router. LABOUR'S PRESENT INCREASE OF MUNITIONS London, .January 3. Field-Marshal Sir Douglas Haig wrote fo Mr. Ben Tillett. 1.110 Labour leader, as follows:—"Tell Labour that the best Christmas present it can mate to comrades in the field is that nothing in 1917 will hinder a Tegular, constantly increasins output of munitions and material. If the munition workers and the troops pull together, our 'triumph is certain."—Eeuter.
