Luke)' expressing his hearty thanks for the work done in 'providing the troops ar Trentharii "with Christmas 1 dinner last week. "With very vivid and pleasant recollections of-similar-func-tions," states Colonel Potter; "I desire to assure you that that on December 19 was in every way . more, successful than the preceding ones, and there is absolute'and most gratifying ' unanimity among all the troops on .the excellence .of, all the arrangements and the quality of the repast provided- by tlio' citizens, under the direction and control of the Mayoress and your good: self. Tho infinite regard for detail, the ' elaborate preparation and the . forethought required to'■successfully consummate such a function is fully realised by me, and the very cordial thanks which I herewith tender on be-' half of the troops is reallyvery inadequate to fully express their gratitudo for the generous hospitality;'/ "To the ladies who went to so much ii-oublo. nii.d /inconvenience, .1 shall be. glad if you will convey tho thanks of ■ the .men.
