V Slightly later than was expected the Moeraki arrived in port from Sydney direct at 1.30 p.m. yesterday, and berthed at No. 1 North Queen's Wharf. She left Sydney at 5 p.m. on Thursday last, and experienced moderate winds and smooth seas. The following is a summary of her cargo :-86 chests tea. 4CO cases onions, 53 bales periodicals. 21 cases clocks, 13.7C0 ■wood blocks, 430 cases dates, 70 cases acid, 100 bags linseed meal, .161 pieces timber, 25 cases whisky, 205 boxes cherries, 20 barrels oil 48 sacks tapioca. 80 bags rice. 30 hogsheads white spirit. Tho Moeraki leaves Wellington this evening for Lyttelton. returning on Thursday morning, and sailing the same day at 5 p.m. for Sydney direct. A. AUD A. STEAMERS. According to tho Sydney "Shipping List" arrangements havo been made for the steamer Kcelung and another vessel to take the berth at New York for Australian and New Staland ports, and both vessels are expected to sail shortly. Tho Keiikou Mara arrived in Australiaa, conplo of days before Christmas and. is expected to cet away from Sydney on the return trip to Japan on January 19. Tho Otaru Jlaru. No. 2, is due at Sydney on January C, and Melbourne on January 12. She. cxtcuds to Port Piric. and leaves Sydney on the return to Japan on January 21. The Matsura Marti is due at Sydney on January Z, and will extend to Jlclhoiirne and Port l'irie. She is expected to lcavo Sydney on February 2 for Japan.

WANGANOT'S DESTINATION AGAIN IN DOUBT. According to tho Kydney "Shipping List," the bargueutine Waneanui left Newcastle on tiunday, Deceniuer 554, lor Wellington. Messrs. W. H. Brown and 6ons shipbuilders, of Auckland, are building a, schooner for Tahiti. Tho vessel ja to bo 90ft. long, 2Jft. beam, ivith a 9ft. depth of hold. Tho vessel will carry 120 tons on a. drausrhf, of Bft. Her propelline power for liffht weather will bo a 90 h.p. Union oil oncine. The vessel ia oipectod to be launched in February. This is the thirteenth vessel Mr. Brown has built for firms in the Eastern Pacific.
The Marine Department reported yesterday that tho Auckland rock light buoy (outsido Napier Boadstead) was sunk on Sunday night. A temporary unlighted buoy wa.s laid in its place yesterday.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co. advise that th* Orepuki is to leave Lyttelton to-morrow for Timaru, and will then come on to Wellington, being due here about Saturday. Sho then froes on to Nydia Bay, Terakoho, and Nelson. The Taka-puna is to leave Picton at 4 o'clock this morning and should arrive here about 8 a.m. Her future movements are not yet certain. Wireless advice reports the arrival at Taupeka (Chatham Islands) of the fflmltanci. from Wcllineton, on. .Friday. Sho loads sheep at Taupeka. Kaingaroa, and Waitansi for Lyttelton. On arrival here this morninft from Liverpool, via Auckland, the Kia Ora, -will berth at No. 1 South Queen's Wharf to discharge part caTgo.
