"Japan.—New Zealand.wasproud to have the special privilege., of welcoming two of Your Majesty's men-of-war to tho shores of these .. Islands in 1916. ; May the Now ' Year now dawning bring happiness to all Your Imperial Majesty's sub-. : jects, and victory, which alone can give a lasting peace, to the arms of the Allies."- : - : : ' "Serbia.—The Doniinion of New Zealand desires rospectfully to express to Your Majesty the earnest, hope that the New Year ' tfill bo the herald of a victorious advance of the Allied Armies, and that at no far distant date the gallant ; Serbian nation .will be freed from tho tyranny of her. enemies'."
