A REASSURING MESSAGE. Washington, December 31. The Japanese Government has cabled to President Wilson a denial of recent sensational reports, and giving a reassurance of continued friendship. Tho message says that Japan would not acquire any British super-Dread-noughts after the war. Regarding the disposition of the Carolines and the other Pacifio islands Japan had seized, she was quite ready to settle their disposal in the peace terms, and the Entente approves of her attitude.—Aus.-N.Z.
