The Hon. G. W.. Russell, who is now in Christchurch, is due back in Wellington to-morrow morning.
Mr.. H. E. Nicholls, secretary of theWellington Harbour Board, is at present confined to bis bouse, suffering I'liom a strained ankle.
• Mr. R. Clifton, formerly Director of tho Fields and Experimental Farms Division of tho Agricultural Department, and lately Commissioner for New' Zealand at- the Panama. Exhibition in San Francisco, lias been appointed secretary to the To Awamutu Federation of the Now Zealand Farmers' Union.
Mr. J. B. Smith, Crown Lands Ranger, who has resided at Petone for some years, is under notice to trans-'. for to Wanganui. y" The Rev. G. S. Bryan Brown", chaplain of Christ's College, Christchurch,is to leave Now Zealand as'a chaplain with tho Twenty-first Reinforcc'ments, and he has been directed to report for /luty on January 10.
Tho death occurred at Takaka on Wednesday of Mr. Josiau Gilbert Mackay, at the age of 77 years. Mr. Mackay was formerly gaoler at Nelson, and ho was in tho Police Force for thirtyone years.
