The Union Company's steamer Kaitaugata arrived at Melbourne, at 9 a.m. on Saturday from Greymouth. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. . ■■ Captain William George Tye, who was associated with the Auckland harbour - ferry service for many years, died while on duty on the steamer. Goshawk on Sunday evening. His death while engaged in hia work on the vessel marked the close of a long and faithful service to tho Devonport FeTry -Company. Captain Tye, who for forty years had been, a master in Auckland harbour, had been .ill for some time. He was 61 years of age, and he left a widow and family of four. One of his sons is a, captain in the Devonport Ferry Company's fleet. Mr. W. M. Amos, late second engineer of the Maheno, arrived in Wellington yesterday morning. She leaves here on Saturday for Westport and Greymouth, and receives cargo until 10.30 a.m. The Union Company adviso that' the Unsamond will not get away for Dunedin, Tltnaru, and Bluff until noijn to-day. The Te Aran, which left Auckland at 6 n.m. on Wednesday, is duo here to-day with 484 -tons of cargo. She leaves hers on Saturday lor Lyttelton and Dunedin.
