January 4. at 1 p.m. As correspondence for all neutral conntries is subject to censorship it is urged in order to avoid delays that such correspondence be posted in ample • time for the mail, the day previous to its dispatch if possible. Parcels for dispatch by steamers and trains, with the exception of the usual ferry steamers for southern offices, clq6o at tho Chief Post Office, Wellington, ono hour before the advertised times of closing of moils. 1 The paicel-post mail per Main Trunk oxpress closes at the C.1'.0. at 11.30 a.m., and for tho south per ferry steamer at S 45 p.a.. late letters for mails beyond tho Dominion oannot in /future be posted on the steamer, but must bo posted in the Jatoletter posting-box at the Chief Post Offlco up to the appointed time shown op the mail notice. ■ ■ Unless otherwise specified, registered letters and parcels-post packages must bo handed in and money-orders obtained: one hour before the ordinary mail closes. On Saturday, December 30, tho let-ter-carriers will make a full- afternoon delivery in the City and suburbs for whioh correspondence must be posted' at the Chief Post Office by 1.40 p.m. Correspondence addressed to streets in tho City and suburbs will be delivered from the lettercarriers' department (entrance upstairs from Featherston Street at the Chief Post Office) from 8 to 9 p.m., also the publio delivery counter will be open for delivery of correspondence addressed to tho Chief Post' Office from tto 9 p.m. The parcel delivery counter will be opened from 8 to 9 p.m. On Monday, January 1 (New Year's Day), the Postal Department will be closed in nil its branches. Mails for dispatch by steainert sailing on Now I'eaT's Day will close at 8 p.m. on tho previous Saturday. The only dispatches of mails by trains on New Year'B Day will closo as follows:—For . Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Eongitikei,. Wanganui. and Taranaki districts at 5.45 a.m., for Auckland and Auckland district at 8 a.m. The City and suburbs Tecoivcrs will not bo cleared during tho day. but the midnight clearances will bo made as usual.
