FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are lor strong southeasterly winds, squally at timc3, in and northward of Cook Strait, with considerable rain probablo in the northern and East Coast districts. Changeabio conditions aro likely elsewhere, with scattered showers. The barometer has a rising tendency, but little movomcnt is anticipated at present in tho far south. >' An 'atmosphoric depression passed in the south about Christmas Eve, and tho winds changed to southerly generally on the 26th, bringing increased cloudiness, but only a few scattered showers.
