CELLULOID GOODS
The manufacture of celluloid goods is of comparatively recent origin in Ja.pan, but it has Been fairly -well developed, and there,»s a number of pretty big mills now engaged in., tlio trade.. Among others ithe Sakai Celluloid Manufacturing Company, of Sakai—which i? one of the leading ports in the bay of Osaka, and figures in the commercial. liistory of Japan as the Japanese Venice—has a complete plant installed: and carries on the manufacture of toys, ; combs, rings, and many other lines of goods on the largest scale in this country. The manufactured goods now supplied to the market, says the "Japan Times," are favourably received in America, Ilussia, Great British India, and some other countries to which tliey_ are being sent in increasing quantities. In spite of the increasing demand: made on tlio <jompany, tfhe firm has taken 'strict measures to prevent the manufacture of inferior or faulty gooda, in order ( to secure a good roputation m foreign countries, 'which will form an inestimable asset for the company. Originally .the company was established by leadiijg btisinoss men for the purpose ol' awakening the town to its former • activity. Thus tbo company's staff works disinterestedly for the betterment of the business conducted by the firm, and in all the goods it turns out traces of their devoted efforts for the improvement ; of the company's goods are clearly discernible.
