SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
The_ first of tho holiday programmes* was given by Mrs. Joseph Lewis at the Sailors' Friend Society -last night, when a most enjoyable time was spent. Novel competitions were indulged in, for which prizes wore provided by wellwishers of -the work. The bit, -ofChristmas "baccy" .was'.;miicli 'appreciated. Mr. Moore, Missioner, announced tho programme fdt'.'.tho holidays. The performers were: 'The Misses Lewis, D. Sparrow, - M. King, and Messrs. P. Bateman, Foster, Rex, Stark (s.s. WUliston),, and Glethson (R.M.S. Athenic). • . . A vote of thanks was moved by sailors, and enthusiastically carried.
A bright' little Christmas treat,' arranged, by-Mr.' Walter Wood' and Miss : Ida - Green; took place .'at Clifton,' Terrace Hospital oil-Wednesday evening. 'During'the' "overling Miss Christine Dibley and Mr. George Houston sang, and j Miss- Connio Tliiel, little •• Rita 'M'Gee, and Mr. W. Wood's recitations caused amusement, and the violin solos played by Miss Violet Carlson also gave niuch'pleasTife", as'did Miss Ida Green's pianoforte solos. Miss Ivy Carlson and Miss Christine Dibley were the accompanists. Supper was served in the hall by Sister Preston and her,staff, and a happy' evening terminated with ,the singing of the National Anthem.
