4 ACKNOWLEDGED FROM FRANCE' AND EGYPT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, December 21. Tho Christmas messages sent to the New Zealand soldiers on active service by the Acting-Prime Minister on behalf of the people of tho Dominion has been appreciatively acknowledged in two quarters, and cablegrams m reply have been received by Mr. Allen from General Sir' Alexander Godley, in command of tho 2nd Anzac Division, and from General'' Chaytor, in command of tho New Zealand troops in Egypt. General Godley says: "On behalf of, myself and the troops Ihavo the honour to command I beg to send to you and to tho peoplo of New Zealand our sincere thanks for your message, which will hearten us to persevere until an honourable and lasting peace has been secured. Of ultimate success we feel assured. Our thoughts will be with you on Christmas Day." Tho text of General Chaytor's reply is as follows: "Your cablegram has been communicated; to all ranks of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force in. Egypt, who heartily reciprocate the Christmas greetings and good wishes from our people at home. With thorn we will join in prayer on Christmas morning."
