The- Wellington Hospital Board resolved yesterday: "That as the Countess of Liverpool would be unable to open the T. G. M'Carthy Home for Convalescent Children before March next, the home be used for its intended purpose as soon as ready, and'tho formal opening be ~ •■■—.•-,
At the Hospital Board meeting yesterday, it' was recommended .that- the resignations of the nurses Hilda North and Pearl Hughan should be accepted with, regret, and that Theatre Sister F. Hart, whose services have been accepted by the military authorities, should be granted extended leavt of absence. The recommendations were adopted. '
Mrs. Lawrence Short, wife of Major Short, and Miss Cecily J. Callanan, of Palmerston North, left by the Hiverina on a visit to Australia.
The marriage took place on October 25, at Old Christchurch Priory, Hants, England, of Rose, daughter of Mr. Richard Newdick, of Buchanan Street, Glenniore, Auckland, to Lieut.' K. T. Jenssen; of the N.Z. Engineers, draughtsman in-the engineering department of the Wellington Harbour Board', son of the late Mr. T. F. Jenssen, of Trondhjem, Norway. Sister Jenssen is nursing at No. 1 General Hospital, Brockenhurst, Hants. She was for years on the staff of the Waihi Hospital prior" to joining the New Zealand nursing service on the outbreak of war.
