I THE COST TO NEW ZEALAND.,'■ By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, December 21. | The total cost to ,New Zealand of the> military occupation of Samoa to November 30 last was £291,780 Us.. A statement giving, details was to-day made available by the Acting Prime> Minister. Under the heading of "Mobilisation and Equipment of Troops," the items are as follow:—Camps, £3119 lis. 9d.; equipment, £8255 135.; post-' age, telegrams, etc., £1240 4s. 3d.; advertising, printing, etc., £108 7s. Id. Transport costs were as follow:— Stores, fuel, etc., three steamers,. £10.672 6s. lid., £13,377 3s. 9d., audi .£14,697 2s. 3d., respectivelyj men returning to New Zealand, freight, etc., £46,103 18s. 10d.' Pay of troops and allotments amounted to £140,400 17b. 6d.; forage, to £11,766 165.; rations tor £36,955 Bs. 6d., and medical costs, including examination fees and equipment, "to £2686 16s. sd._ Other items of expenditure were: Administrative expenses at Samoa paid bv the New Zealand Governmentj and refund asked for, £272 10s.. 9d.; mechanical transport, £1449 13s. Bd.; and purchase of horses, £673 ss. Bd.
