The Carterton Borough Council lias decided to voto sufficient moucy to euablo tho Public Library and Reading Room to carry on till tho end of tho financial year, March 31, 1917 4 when the council will take control -of the institution, and a-special library-rate would bo struck. On Tuesday a traction engiiio belonging to Mr. S. Minton went through a bridge on Brooklyn Road. Tho engine had crossed ono bridge on this road and was half-way across tho second when the. bridge. collapsed. The Borough Council lias appointed a committee to visit tho locality and decide whether a new wooden structure or concrete pipes shall replace it.
