JOHNSONVILLE FLOWER SHOW
THE PRIZEWINNERS. The Summer, Show of the Johnsonvilla Horticultural and Industrial Society was opened in Moore Brothers' Hall yesterday afternoon. The opening ceremony was'performed by Mr.ll. A. AVright, M-P.j who was introduced by Mr. ,W. Cook, president of the society. Mr. 'Wright complimented tho society on the fine display of flowers, wbicn was/ he said, highly creditable in every way. The show is quite up.to the level of those of previous yearsj and some of the sections contain several very good exhibits. Mi - . Holder has a meritorious' collection of 'sweet peas, and so has MrJ P. J. Westbury. Mr. T. .Waugh's exhibit of roses is exceptionally tine, as is that of Mr. A. J. Shailer. The best collection' of vegetables is tho ene made hy Mr. F. J. Westbury. The leading trophy, the Belgian Rose Bowl for the best collection of roses, was won hy Mr. P. J. Porteous. The judges were: Messrs.. A.; J.' Shailer, P. J. •Westbury, and Miss Robinson.
In the pot plants section the number of entries was small. The prizewinners were Mrs. W. Cook and Miss Adams.
The display of cut roses was very; good. The prizewinners were: Mes-; dames Cook, Bethuhe,' Rodder, and Car-' man, Misses Adams and Pattle, and Messrs.' J. S. lord, 0. Cook, J. Ball, P. K. Porteous, l'ickin, L. Bryant, and the Rev. Petrie. For the collection of roses prizes w»re awarded, to Mesdames Rodder and >Took, Miss .Windley, and Messrs;' Hirschberg, P. J. Porteous, iJ. Ball, 0. Cook, and Rev. Petrie.
The Belgian Rose Bowl for the col-
lection of 24 roses was awarded to Mr. P. J. Porteous. Entries, in the sweet pea section wero numerous, and the prizes went to Mesdames Griffiths and Bethune and Messrs. P. Westbury and Dalliston. The championship vase for sweet peas was won by Mr. P. J. Westbury. The prizes in the fruit and vegetable sections were won by: Mesdames Ccok, Griffiths,-Miss Windley, and Messrs. H.-B; Wolf, J. Blair, .A. L. Bramley, H. Anyon, W. 0. Cook, J. Grant, and H. ■ Bramley. The children's section contained some very good work. The prizewinners were: Ross Larsen, Adrian Rodder, Geoffrey Rodder, Poris Ball, - Edith Wolf, ?nd Arthur Carman. The show will bo open again to-<lay. , 'Tho Ladies' 'Auxiliary.of tho Navy. Leaeue acknowledge parcels of warm clothing for tile lesser auxiliary craft of the Fleet, from the following ladies: Pupils of the Girls' College, per Miss Mac Lean, a splendid collection of handknitted, garments. •'. • If to-day you have a fine head of hair keep it in its present healthy, state.
