CONFERENCE MEETS. , A conference of. anti-conscription delegates, mostly from Labour bodies, met in the Alexandra Hall yesterday, and sat continuously during the day jnd evening. The meeting was not open/ to the Press, but a report, supplied byi the Press Committee especially appoint/ ed, states that those present ino]wife the national executive of the L'nitr;d Federation of Labour, representing HQ organisations/the national executive, of the New. Zealand ..'Waterside. AVcil«rs' Federation, representing' 18 'organisations; and the-national executive of the New Zealand Miners' Federation, representing 12 organisations. In! addition to these, 59 other organisatic/ns are represented, such as the Agrir/iilturol and Pastoral AA'orkers' Union, /the Labour Representation Committee/, Trades and Labour Councils, gold w'ners at Waihi and Reefton, railway /construction workers,. flax millers, general labourers, carpenters and joiners, engineers, Conscription Repeal Leagues, Catholic conscientious objectors, Irish League, and tho Social Democratic Party. The Teport furthor states that farmers and business men. are also present, and, roughly, about 50,000 people are represented. Mr. 'J. Dowgray, president of tho United Federation of Labour, was elected chairman, and Mr. P. Eraser secretary of the conference. Mr. G. L. Glover, vice-president of tbe U.F.L., is also present.
