FIXED PRICE FOR WHEAT
- London, December 19. Sir Richard; Winfrey (Secretary to the Board of Agriculture), speaking in the House of Commons, said the Government intended to guarantee a fixed price for home-growo. wheat for 1916-17.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ; HIGH WHEAT FREIGHTS SCARCITY OF SHIPPING Melbourne, December 20. In the Federal House of Representatives, Mr. TV. M. Hughes stated that in consequence of the ' scarcity of freight it was costing as much to.dispatch a bushel of wheat to England as the' farmer received under tho pool scheme.—Press Association.
