THE MAHENO
DUB HERE THIS MORNING. . The hospital ship Maheno, which'., has been.doing such notably good work in the English Channel, is due here from England, via Auckland, at about : 10 a.m. to-day.. According to a telegram received by tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) from Major Bartlett, there are on board. 136 men for the "Wellington district, 70 for Canterbury, and 70 for Otago. Of those who will be landed hero, 21 are to be accommodated at tho Victoria Hospital for Soldiers. ■ •■■.'■■ The steamer will be met by the Mayor, who will cordially welcome tho men back on behalf of the citizens of Wellington. ,■ Mrs. Luko and a party of ladies will also visit tlie Maheno after 'she is tied up. and will dispense hospitality on .hoard, as it is not desirable or convenient to have a function at the Town.Hall. The Motor Reserve will attend at the* ship's side, and after tho brief ceremony of welcome, will convey to the liospitals or homes those men who are to stay in Wellington. Others will be taken to the railway stations as the occasion serves. The remainder will be taken south by theMahe.no.
