December 19, 5.30 p.m.) London, December 18. - At tiio wool - sales there was good allround competition. Prices for all classes of merinos were, well maintained, but crossbred wero occasionally in' buyers' favour. The following were tho prices realised for tho fleece portion of the New Zealand' clips named:—Hakarere, top price 29Jd., average price 26|d.; Kewakewa, top 23Jd., average £3 3-Bd. The Bradford top market is strong, but sellers are asking prohibitive prices. Conferences of the various sections of the trado 'with tho Wafc Office continue. There is great anxiety In the trade as to the future prospeots, and some doubt whether the sales will bo resumed after uhristmas. An official announcement will be made 'on Tuesday.
