SCHOOL CHILDREN'S HEALTH

PARENTS AND DOCTORS CONSULT. In compliance with a desire expressed by the Hon. J. Hanan, Minister of Education, that meetings' should be arranged between the medical inspectors of schools of the various districts, and such of the parents as might desire to confer with them on the subject of medical inspection, Dr. Paterson, Medical Inspector of the Wellington District, has recently held meetings at the Mount Cook Infants' and the Kelburn Normal Schools. Through such discussions it is hoped that an adequate understanding of the purpose of tho medical inspection will be obtained by tho parents interested. At tho Mount Cook Infants'* School there was an attendance of some sixty parents, and at Kelburn also there was a very good attendance. Various . subjects dealing with tho welfare of the children were discussed at length by the Medical Inspector, who, after the address, met individual parents who wished to consult her in regard to tho welfare of their children. It is hoped to make such meetings a prominent feature of the work of medical inspection, as it is realised that the co-operation of the parents is a very important condition of success.
