HONEY CROP PROSPECTS
The Director of the Horticulture Division of the Department of Agriculture has received from the apiary instructors tho following reports concerning the honey crop prospects:— • Auckland.—After a record wet year in the north there is an abundance of clover in blossom, and if seasonable weather is now experienced there should be a good honey season. Wellington —The indications are for a good honey harvest. Clover is commencing to bloom freely, and the required temperature for the secretion of nectar seems assured. The colonies generally are very strong. Christchurch.—Bees in some districts are just holding- their own, while ;'in ; other localities they are storing 1 well in the supers. Unless:we get some real good soaking rains during; • December and January, I am very much afraid many beekeepers will have to be satisfied with small crops, although there are exceptions. Duliedin.—Reports to hand; point to an_ average crop. Swarming is in full swing," and generally the bees are in good order. In bush districts fine weather liavo favoured the bees, and surpluses have been recorded.
