LONDON WOOL SALES. (11 ec. December 17, 5.5 p.m.) ■ - London, December 16. The wool sales show the market to bo steady. Buyers are somewhat restrained, owing to high prices, and buying is apparently conflnod to consumers. . A quantity of good halfbred New Zealand wool belonging to United States owners, and for which licenses were unobtainable in New ,'Zealand is being realised at extreme prices, otherwise the offerings are very miscellaneous. Although prices are being maintained little keenness is bein'g manifested. Several parcels of slipes were withdrawn owing to high reserves. The following were the prices realised for'the fleece portion of the Wakio clip:— Top price, 29d., average 27 3-& d. The wool saleß were postponed; owing to fog. To. date, 15,978 bales have been catalogued, , and 13,686 sold.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.

Dalgcty and Company, Limited, advise having received the following cablegrain from their London house, under date December 14 .—"The ■wool sales opened with a. very large attendance of buyers. Competition'was strong. The selection was poor, and was composed of second-hand and old clips. As compared with close of last sales merinos greasy combings 10 per cent-., : short 5 per cent.,. scoured 5 to 7i per cent.' higher. Greasy crossbred and slipes are also 10 per cent, higher."
