MAN BURNED TO DEATH
—— BIG MOTOR GAIi.AGE DESTROYED BY FIRE. By Telegraph—Press Association, invercargill, December 16. Wood's motor garage was totally de-< stroyed by fire at 2 o'clock this morning. Over forty cars, many privatelyowned, were burnt. Tho building was of brick, and covered about a' quarter off an acre in the' main block. It ' was owned by Sir J. G. Ward. The "Southland .News" building was seriously threatened, the intense heat breaking the skyligKs. The damage is about £20,000. • Lator. An examination of the debris of tW fire' disclosed the remains of John, M'lvor, aged 26, who slept in the premises'. The insurances are: Building, £3000: stock, £1600. - The damage to the Grand. Theatre is about £40, and to Nisbet's'carriage factory £200.
