SOUTH WELLINGTON.

For the year just ended at South Wellington School, l Smytho Hand secured the dux gold medal, presented by a, friend. Tho prizes for shooting were awarded as follow:—1st, Harold Preston (medal); 2nd, Harry Tilyard; 3rd Keith Croll; 4th, Alberfc Bentley. During the week the headmaster, Mr. Thomas, on behalf of tho staff, presented Lieut. Beechey, who has been a teacner at the school until March of this year, . with some useful articles, as a token of goodwill and appreciation on the part of his fellow teachers. Lieut. Beechey is shortly to leave for the front. Sixty-one children obtained proficiency certificates on the year's • work.
