SWIMMING
CLYDE QUAY SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP. A 50 yards Tace was held at Te Aro Baths on Tuesday afternoon for the championship of Clyde Quay School, and the accompanying- gold medal, annually donated by Mr. Partridge, of Oriental ■Bay. Tho event was von by the barest of margins by B. Somers, with C. Hum second, and K. Gibson and J. Hunter (tie) third, after a very keen struggle. Three Clydo Quay schoolboys, C. Hum, 'A. Paterson, and L. Coogan, havo already availed themselves of the City Council's latest concession for the encouragement of swimming amongst children, by which any child swimming a mile is "awarded a ticket, givimr a year's free entrance to the baths. These boys swam a mile each last week, and, thanks to the energy of Jfr. A. W. Earnall, lion, secretary to tho "Wellington Swimming Centre, are already in possession of thoir privileges. _____
