TROOPS MARCHING
TWENTY-FIRSTS ON THE ROAD,
The Twenty-first Infantry Reinforce* ments began their march from Feather* ston Camp to Trerrtham yesterday? morning, and reached Kaitoke, whera they will bivouac to-night, about midday. The weather was fine and hoti for the march. The Usual programme of„field and night manoeuvres wilt be carried out, and the troops will reach' Trentbam on Friday. Tho oolumn was m charge of Lieu-tenant-Colonel C. R. Macdonald, ChieE Infantry Instructor. The little bootmaker (Mr. F. V. Rutberfiird) led the troops, carrying his flag, and another flag, a large New Zealand ensign, was carried by Private M'Carthy, the mascot of J Company.' Music on tho march was provided by pipers and drummers of D Coy. After lunch, the men indulged in field sports, under the direction of their officers, and the, afternoon in biyouao . was spent in, tugs-of-war, boxing bouts; foot races, "and other athletics.
