BRILLIANT FIGHTING
ENEMY'S COMMANDER IN EAST AFRICA SURRENDERS London, December 11. A telegram from Ovogoro, in East Africa, etates that the Gorman General Walile attacked a small post at Noominge, in full force.' After a hopeless but desperate resistance, the British retired, leaving prisoners. General Walile continued south, and attacked Malingals, where Captaiu Marriott unexpectedly resisted for four days. Colonel Murray' 6 relieving force then attacked tho enemy on the £ank, and forced Walile back to Lupembe. Colonel Murray was then reinforced, and pursued General AVahle towards Mahenge, killing 61 men, and taking--33 prisoners. After a Btrong pursuit General'Walile surrendered, with seven white officers and 47 white men and 240 Askaris. A howitzer and three Maxims were also captured. A force which had been detached by General Wahle earlier in the hope of enveloping Colonel Northey was rounded up at Itembule. Captain Marriott was awarded the Military Cross on tho field.—"The Times."
