INTERMITTENT CANNONADING

London, December 11. A French official communique states: "There is an intermittent cannonade south of tho Soinme. Two Gorman aeroplanes were brought down at Verdun, and two in the Champagne. There is reciprocal artillery fighting and trench mortaring at Loos, Arras, Ypres, and north of the Ancre. A French official communique states: "There is violent artillery firing at Ville-au-Bois, north-west of Reims, and in the Douaumont sector. The "Daily Chronicle's" Paris correspondent reports: "Coinciding with i.tho cessation of tbe stormy weather, the intensity of the cannonade on the British front has been redoubled since Saturday, but tho snow has begun to fall. The artillery duel on the Ancre has been most violent sinco the beginning of the Somme Battle. The British gunners north of the Ancro gained a. marked' success over tho. Germans' heavy guns.
