VOLUNTARY WORKERS' BADGES
BT. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE AND RED CROSS SOCIETY. i The Assistant . Commissioner in 'Charge of St. John Ambulance Briigade Overseas has received a' supply i of badges' for voluntary workers, and .they are being distributed to those ; workers'who are entitled to them'by ithe committee - of. th&-St. John Ambujlance Brigade and,lied Cross Society .'Depot in Nathan's Buildings. . Great is being taken that the badges are issued only to those persons who are genuine and conscientious Red Cross workers, in accordance with in'structiouß received in a- letter from the headquarters of the brigade in England, from which the following is an extract:—"Tho badges are numbered, tho acknowledgment forms are likewise numbered. In distributing ■the badges each recipient must sign ( '.the acknowledgment form bearing the 'number corresponding to that appearing ou the badge. Before distributing the badges it must be made clear'that ,tlie recipient has not already received one through any other association, and •that no claim has been made on his or her behalf for another badgo through .any other channel. The forms of .acknowledgment aro to bo carefully preserved and scheduled in numerical order, and tho forma and schedules aro to be returned to mo as soon as completed. .' The schedules should be made .in duplicato. lam to call your particular attention'to the condition that in order to retain the" badge every worker, must continue to perform regular work.'' .':<-': /",...■' ;
In accordance with the instructions given above a. register is kept showing ,the names and addresses of Red Cross workers, 1 and a.copy of this, in duplicate, will be forwarded periodically to headquarters, as ? in course of time, other workers, in" addition to those who have already recoived badges, will beeonio entitled to receive them. The principal condition, which is being rigidly observed, iipon which a voluntary worker shall be entitled to _a badge is that he or sho has worked conscientiously and well for three months, and will continue to perform regular work. badge, which is issued by the Director-General of Vol-
untary Organisations, is a bronze one, and consists of the letters V.W. intermingled, surmounted by a crorz.
