M'Cardell, who nlayed a fino innings, provided CI of the total runs, and Bray (formerly one of the North' Club's leading bats) made 39. East began badly, and lost three good bats (Barker, M'Girr', and Dind) for a dozen runs. Gibbes and Midlane,. however, made a good stand, an when stuiup§ were drawn thoy were both' well past the half century, and their partnership had realised over 100. Only two players succeeded in reaching double figures, and the opposing bowlers, Hiddlestono and Windley, took seven wickets for 29 runs, and three for 23 respectively. Hiddlestono was easily the leading batsman in the game, his score being 131 runs (not out). North's total was added to greatly by Hi'ckson (40), Tuckwell (82), Burton (30), Crombic (29). Hiddlestone gave five chances before ho had reached 30, but thereafter his was a chanceless innings.

University, in their first innings against Petono, made 141, Dwyer topping the batting figures with 67 runs. Petone had made 164 for seven wickets at tho close of the day's play, Brice being.responsible for 54 and Nicholls for 49. TRENTHAM AND EAST. . Trontham—First Innings., Leversedge, 6t. Condliffe, b.'.
