MASTERTON NOTES
The Masterkm Ilouiiiig Pigeon Club Htnv two old-bird races this week. The first was from Lyttelton, and was won by Mr. W. C. Gourlay's "Confidence." Tiie second was from Russell, and was won by Messrs. Puuker and Price's "The Boss."
Arrangements are being mado for the holding of a military tournament in Masterton in tho month of February. A Chinese grocer at Martinborough was fined £1 and costs by Mr. W. lierr, S.M., for selling under-weighfc butter.
A sum of £95 was paid out in charitable aid by the Wairarapa Hospital and Gharitable Aid Board during the month of November.
The ladies' auxiliary of tho Navy League has raised £101 in Masterton during tho past week by means' of afternoon tea, etc. ' , It is proposed to dnplicato the reservoir and filter-beds in connection with the Lansdowne water supply. Two teams from the Masterton Park Bowling Club visited Eketalmna on Thursday, and were defeated in a Booth Cup competition by tho narrow margin of threo points. Messrs. A. D. M'Leod, W. B. Matheson, and W. Nevins havo been appointed a committee to wateh the interests of Wairarapa wood-growers in the negotiations over the wool-clip.
