THE TOTALISOR IN NEW SOUTH WALES
'A PROTEST BY THE CHURCH. (Rec. December 8, 10.15 p.m.) Sydney, December 8. Under the provisions of the Totalisator Bill the Government takes seventenths and the clubs' three-tenths of the 10 per cent, deducted. A deputation from the Anglican Synod visited tho Minister for Education, and protested against legalising of the totaKsator, quoting the enormous increase in betting in New Zealand and other States since the introduction of the totalisator. Their arguments failed to convince tho Minister. ■ —
