IBt Glekcoe.l Nominations for the Westland Racing Club's Jubileo Meeting clo6o on Friday next. Acceptances for the first day's handicaps at the Manawatu Summer Meeting close on Tuesday next. The Bay of Plenty meeting will take place to-day. At the conclusion of the Woodville fixture, Staiter C. O'Connor and Jockeys J. O'Shea and H. Gold- | finch hastened north, to' assist at the gathering. The Woodville Jockey Club had a most successful fixturo, and a good profit should be the result after all taxation is paid. The threatening weather interfered with the attendance, on tho second day, and the several heavy showers that fell during tho afternoon did not assist speculation. Despite this, an increased turnover resulted. The now secretary, Mi. W. A. Lyon, officiated for the first time, aid did remarkably well, Tho Vasco horse Sedd-el-Bahr las been entered for tha southern meetings at Christmas, so there is not much likelihood of the Highden cast-off being sent north for the Manawatu Cup Meeting. At tho Methven races on Thursday the Cup was won by the unreliable Charlemagne II gelding Ogier,. who was the ouitsider of the field. Bellshire was second, and the favourite, War Dancor, tliird. The oonßistent Golden Prince waa made favourite in the Welter Handicap, seven furlongs, and won easily. This is his first success over a distance beyond five furlongs. Tho Chokebore candidate, Tantalus, scored in the Trial Plate, from Donnata, who had won the Maiden Handicap at Hororata the week prviouß. The Martian gelding, Pyjama, waa made a good favourite in tho Viewmont Handicap, six,furlongs, but he failed to gain a place, the race, going to the light-weight, lan Hamilton, with Formola and Chudio in the places.
