--. » . CONFERENCE OP FIELD SECRETARIES. At an important confcrence of Y.M.C.A. field secretaries last night— every secretary in New Zealaitd, with one exception, being present—a comprehensive programme was adopted for actively pursuing the work of the association among soldiers iu training camps, in the city, and on transports. Mr. H. W. . Kersley, acting-national chairman, presided. ' . An interesting subject of discussion was that relating to the Soldiers' Hostel in Boulcott Street, where additions are being made for the purpose of increasing the accommodation. It was also reported that extensive provision is being mado to increase tho temporary sleeping quarters at the Y.M.C.A. Building, so as to be better able to cope with the great week-end rushes and the expccted congestion during tho holidays. All field secretaries undertook to arrange for soldiers to book accommodation beforo leaving the camps for tho city, and the conference arranged that Y.M.C.A. secretaries shall in future meet the most important trains_ and boats for the purposo of directing soldiers to tlio hostel or to other suitable quarters. : Reports of a most encouraging nature wero presented by the secretaries in charge of tho live training camps in Now Zealand, and ways and means wero discussed, for making various oxtensions and adding to the camp equipments. A special effort is to bo mado forthwith to secure a piano for tho Papawai Camp.
