TRADING CERTIFICATES
LOCAL REGULATIONS CANCELLED It has been pointed out hy the secretary of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce (Mr. H. D. Vickery) that by Gazette Extraordinary the regulations demanding that import liceuses must bo obtained for goods imported from" countries other than Britain, British Possessions, France, Japan, and the United States, have been withdrawn, and these were embodied in the War Regulations, dated July 24, and amended on August 28 last. Those regulations, wliinh were of vital_ interest to the trading community, included the following provisions:— "(b) A license must be obtained from the Comptroller' of Customs before the goods aro ordered for each firm with whom it is desired to trade. "(c) Where goods are ordered through a buying agent in the United Kingdom who is given discretionary power as to the sources of supply, and irrespective or whether the supplier's invoice is to be ultimately sent, along witli tho agents invoice to New Zealand or not, there will he no necessity to obtain a license in New Zealand, provided that the agent gets the invoice to be sent to New Zealand viseed, approved, and endorsed at the ollice or tho High Commissioner in London." The regulations, which are now cancelled were New Zealand regulations, and do not affect tho Imperial' Regulations. /
