M'LaugMin is taking Tho Golfer to Woodvillo for the Hack Hurdles on the second day. . In addition to riding the members ot J. Lowe's team, A. Eeed will also bo up on Bed Eibbou and Antwerp at A\ ootlville. Two promising recruits to the hurdling business in. Hylatus and Atuatoro are likely to be seen out at Woodville. As was the case last summer, F. Davis is now settled at Woodvillo with his toam, and will remain thore imtu he leaves for tho Auckland Cup Meeting Davis informed "Glencoe" at muling that Desert Gold was now quite herself again. The Trenthain trainer, J. Lowe, has cancelled bis boxes at Awapuni, and his sprinters are to go to the Auckland Meeting at Christmas. The team will consist of Chakwana, Seadown, . Menelaus, and Ayah. They will be railed north on Thursday of next week. A Gisborne paper reports that Mr. A. B. Williams, owner of Chortle and several other horses, lias been called to tho colours. The Wingatui trainer, C. Christie, with John Barleycorn and Marco Bello, is expected to pass through this week on his way to Elierslie. The former is one of tho 'Cup fancies, and on his Bicoarton form he must be given a chance. It would seem as if the Sarto gelding races best on a very light preparation, for when ho won the Jockey Club. Handicap at Eiccarton he used to do very littlo on the tracks, and had the run of tho paddock all day. This year he had only been up a few weeks when he raced in the New Zealand Cup, and a week latet he won the Fendalton Handicap.
An advertisement in this issue notifies the closing of nominations on Friday next for all events at the Summer Meeting of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club. F. Davis is taking eight horses to the Elierslie Meeting, and S- Waddoll will have a team of balf a dozen.

Koesian is bj Elysian from Kowerewere, and was bred at the Ascot Stud Farm, being- sold as a yearling for 100 guineas to his present owner, Mr. G. L.. Stead.
