At the Magistrate's CourtlSTa afternoon Benjamin Biddle, Rua's son, pleaded guilty to committing perjury at Rua's trial at Auckland by swearing that Constable Skinner was the man who fired the first shot at the Maungapohotu affray on April 2. He made a voluntary statement to Senior Sergeant Casselfe that'he had been induced to swear so, but he now admitted that it was untrue. He declined to have a lawyer, and said he was heartily sick of the whole affair. Ho was remanded to the Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence. Similar charges against four other Maoris will be taken on Tuesday. ' '
