At midnight he was reported to be doing as well as can be expected. Mr. G. R. Mr. Howard Reid. who has been on a holiday visit to Australia, returned to Wellington by the Manuka last evening. Mr. S. K. Siddells, a member of tbe teaching staff of the Napier Boys' High School, has enlisted, and will shortly leave for camp. A Press Association message from Auckland states that the following soldiers returned from Samoa by the Talune, under Sorgt.-Major Dunwoodie, on two months' furlough:—Sergt. Bensoman, Ptes. Ingram, H. Johnston, J. Johnston, M'Donald, Steedman, Marsden, J. Marshall,. W.' Marshall, Oakes, O'Neill. Private Alesandor (invalided) has also returned. Mr. H. C. Cornforth, managing director, and Mr. A. K. Oak-Rhind, director, of the Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd., aro at prosent on a visit to New Zealand. They are tendering the legal staff a complimentary luncheon during the week.
